Leavenworth Community United Methodist Women is part of the international UMW agency of the United Methodist Church.  Our mission is meeting the needs of the least and the lost, fostering spiritual growth, developing leaders and advocating for justice.  At CUMC, we desire to provide as many mission and ministry opportunities as possible for women to serve Christ.  Our mission involvement extends from our local Leavenworth community across the globe. We take seriously our call to “go forth and do God’s work.”

Women of all ages are encouraged to join us.  To support our mission we share ideas and resources; connecting education, service and advocacy with spiritual growth. We educate the congregation on childhood hunger.  We also sponsor and connect with ongoing social service organizations in the community including the Blood Drive, Nason Creek Rest Stop and the Hospital Guild.  The non-profit, social service agency M.E.N.D (Meeting Each Need with Dignity) is our primary community partner in addressing the needs of area residents.

Within the church we sponsor a variety of activities including collection boxes for those in the military; backpacks, food packs, and school supplies for school children; non-perishable food collections for the Community Cupboard; Christmas Giving Tree for teens; and outreach to our sick and shut-ins.  In addition, we provide hand-knitted or hand crocheted winter hats for each child at the local elementary school.  Each year, for three Saturdays in December, we host a luncheon for the dozens of bus drivers that bring in tourists for the holiday festivities.  At the same time, we sponsor our Christmas Craft Bazaar which is open to the community. For the second year, we are planning a Silent Auction and Dinner.  Half of the proceeds from the auction will be donated towards local mission needs.
